Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy covers this static website and the following iOS apps developed by Barney Chen under the Barneysbro name:

The website and apps work differently. The website does not use the advertising or analytics SDKs used by the apps.

2. This website

Information stored by the site

The website stores one language preference, barneysbro-language, in your browser's local storage. It is used only to remember whether the homepage should appear in Traditional Chinese or English. You can remove it by clearing this site's browser data.

What the site does not use

• No analytics or tracking scripts
• No advertising technology
• No cookies set by Barneysbro
• No account system, contact form, or payment form

Hosting, email, and external links

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process connection and diagnostic information when serving the site under its privacy statement.

Contact links open your email application. If you email us, we receive the address, message, and attachments you choose to send. Links to App Store, social media, transport operators, and other external sites are handled under those services' own privacy policies.

3. Information used by the iOS apps

Location

The apps may request location access for nearby stops, nearby collection points, walking distance, and other location-based views. Access requires iOS permission. You can deny or revoke it in iOS Settings and continue using manual search and saved information where available.

When you deliberately open directions in an external map app, that provider processes the navigation request under its own policy.

Data stored on your device

Favorites, recent searches, app settings, and purchase-entitlement status are stored in local preferences or an app-group container used by the app and its widgets. Barneysbro does not intentionally upload these saved lists to its own servers. They may be included in device backups according to your iOS and Apple backup settings.

RainCam

RainCam does not require an account, display advertising, or include analytics and tracking SDKs. A place name, address, or Google Maps sharing URL that you enter or share to the app is used only to resolve the selected place. Content received by the share extension is temporarily stored in an on-device container shared with the app and deleted after the app reads it. Saved places, original search text or URLs, saved cameras, and map settings remain in local device storage and can be cleared in the app. When you use the My Location map button, RainCam requests iOS location permission and uses Apple MapKit to show your current position. RainCam does not save that position to favorites or send it to a Barneysbro server; you can deny or revoke permission and continue using manual search. Apple MapKit also searches place names and addresses and displays the map. Traffic services operated by Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung provide traffic-camera locations and live images. These providers receive ordinary network information, such as an IP address and the requested URL, place name, or address, under their own privacy policies.

Usage, diagnostics, and advertising

Some Barneysbro apps include Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, and Google AdMob. RainCam does not use these services. Depending on the app, service, settings, consent choices, and iOS permissions, these services may process:

• App interactions, app-instance identifiers, and approximate usage information
• Crash reports, device model, operating-system version, app version, and diagnostic details
• IP address and advertising or device identifiers where permitted
• Ad interactions and consent or tracking choices

The apps request App Tracking Transparency permission where applicable. The result can affect advertising personalization, but denying tracking does not remove all ads or prevent non-advertising diagnostics.

Purchases

Ad-removal purchases or subscriptions are processed by Apple. Barneysbro does not receive or store payment-card details. The apps may retain entitlement status locally and communicate with Apple to purchase, restore, or verify access.

Notifications

Taipei Garbage can request notification permission and schedule local collection reminders on the device. The current implementation does not use a Barneysbro server to send those reminders. Notification permission can be changed in iOS Settings.

Service-data requests

The apps contact government, transport-operator, and civic open-data services to retrieve routes, stops, arrival times, and collection information. Those providers receive ordinary network information such as an IP address and the request being made. Requests are subject to each provider's own terms and privacy practices.

5. Retention and your choices

• Website preference: clear this site's browser storage.
• Local app data: remove saved items where the app provides that control, or delete the app. Deleting the app generally removes its local data, subject to device backups.
• Permissions: change Location, Notifications, and Tracking permissions in iOS Settings.
• Ads and analytics: use the consent and privacy controls presented by the app or operating system where available.
• Third-party records: Apple, Google, transport-data providers, and GitHub retain information according to their own policies.

6. Children's privacy

The services are not designed to ask children to create an account or submit a profile to Barneysbro. If you believe a child has sent personal information to the contact address, please email us so we can review the request.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the website, apps, or service providers change. The review date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are published.
